About Me (In My Own Words)
Hello,
For some reason I cannot access my old account. And all of you were so helpful in 2016 with my surgery and thoughts, messages, etc -I thought I would reach out again.
Just some background: I was born with a VSD and in 2000 they discovered the bicuspid valve. We watched if for 16 years and in 2016 I had open heart surgery replacing the valve with a mechanical Soren valve. I've been doing great and was back to work in 12 weeks. I exercise 6 days a week now and have never felt better. However, the blood thinners have been challenging. I never realized even small surgeries, I now have to be concerned with my blood being at the perfect level for surgery. Today I was told I need a hysterectomy and once again I am scared. So I have two questions for my heart valve friends..
1. Have you had a hysterectomy and which is worse as far as pain and recover? Heart surgery or hysterectomy
2. Did you stop your coumadin prios and did you have any complications I should prepare myself for?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
