About Me (In My Own Words)
Diagnosed with aortic stenosis and bicuspid aortic valve back in 2011. Echo-cardiograms annually since then. My recent Feb 2016 echo showed the valve has continued to get worse and now needs replacement. Cardiologist advised me to have it replaced within the next 6-12 months. I am currently researching my options. Plan to get a second opinion (for peace of mind) and subsequently meet with a surgeon to discuss my case before scheduling a surgery. My biggest question right now is whether to have a tissue valve or mechanical valve replacement. I'm 55 years old and really don't like the thought of a second valve replacement surgery.
