About Me (In My Own Words)
Actually, this wasn't me. It's our son, Aidan.
He was born with Aortic Stenosis. He had a balloon cath when he was an infant. Then he was on medication for several years to slow down the closing of his valve. At the age of 9, he had to have open heart surgery to have a prosthetic mechanical valve placed. He did well with the surgery, and we were blessed that he was able to have an adult size valve placed which was great because this meant that he would not have to have another surgery to replace that mechanical valve as he grew.
He is now almost 20 years old, and a student in college studying engineering.
