About Me (In My Own Words)
I first became aware of having mitral valve prolapse when I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter. I became under the care of a cardiologist in 2008 when I was having other health issues & continued to have yearly check-up's. I wasn't aware that the leak was getting worse until I was denied for health insurance & started looking @ my portal notes. In the meantime, my cardiologist retired & I retired in the Spring of 2019. That summer I started feeling like I was going to faint when out & about. It never dawned on me it was due to my heart, so I was checking out everything else possible. When I went in August for my regular check out, found out that my leak had changed to more severe. We did a couple more tests before scheduling surgery. Fortuntately, it was minimally invasive surgery.
