About Me (In My Own Words)
I had rheumatic fever as a child and it damaged my heart. In1984 I had open heart surgery on my Mitral valve to cut out scar tissue. I had a check- up every 2 years after the surgery. All was well until fall of 2011 when they discovered I had severe Tricuspid Regurgitation. I have had several tests, a second and third opinion and now have a doctor in Quebec City. My new doctor has diagnosed 3 valves with regurgitation. I will need Tricuspid & Mitral valve replacement in the near future. I am scheduled for another round of tests next week and I will find out if it is now time for the surgery. To say I am nervous and scared is an understatement. I am trying to stay positive and not worry. I thank God for my wonderful, supportive husband.
