About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with a mitral valve prolapse 24 years ago at age 18. I lived with mild mitral regurgitation for the first decade or so after the initial diagnoses with minimal symptoms, but gradually began experiencing more frequent and more significant symptoms. Annual, and then bi-annual echos over the past 10 years have shown a gradually increasing levels of regurgitation. I elected to have the valve surgically repaired last week by Dr. Jessica Rove at UCH in Denver, CO. Surgery was successful and I have just begun my recovery.
