About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with mikd Aortic Stenosis is 2019. I suffered a mild heart attack in January of 2021. My aortic stenosis progressed to moderate in fall of 2022. I felt I wasn't getting the appropriate care and changed cardiologist in January of this year. Suffered another mild cardiac infraction in May of 2023 with my symptoms progressing especially shortness of breath and fatigue. Have a follow up echo cardiogram July and meet with my cardiologist in August. I impressed upon my cardiologist my frustration with my symptoms and no action other than sit and wait as it progresses. He agreed to refer me to Dr. Quader at VCU and discussed my case with Dr Quader. I made an appointment on September 1st and Dr Quader informed me I have severe AS and my aortic valve is opening .6 to .8 cm. He scheduled me for SAVR on September 21st.
