About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation from prolapse and flail at the end of April 2024 at the age of 41. I never had any issues or symptoms prior to an episode of high heart rate in March 2024 which lead me to the cardiologist where this was all discovered. The initial shock has worn off and now I am eager to have the surgery so I can get to the other side of this - recovery and back to normal life. I am having a repair via a minimally invasive surgery at St.Michael’s hospital in Toronto, sometime in August or September 2024.
