About Me (In My Own Words)
Juvenile rheumatic fever in 12/03/1963. Diagnosed with stenotic aortic valve 2010. Scheduled for aortic angiogram, developed Afib 10/01/2013, successful aortic valve replacement and full maze procedure 10/03/2013. I also had super glue instead of sutures and have no visible scar. Returned to work 6 weeks after surgery. Presently living a full happy retired life in Panama.
UPDATE February 1 2019I opted for a mechanical valve as at 58 years old it was my understanding that a tissue valve would have to be replaced in 15 to 20 years an i didn't care for the idea of going through the procedure again at an advanced age. As far as rehab I had a nurse come to the house twice after discharge but that was the extent. Fortunately my progress/recovery went well enough to not need it.
