About Me (In My Own Words)
**Update 7/29 had a follow up with my cardiologist and found out I have ebsteins anomaly which I've had my whole life (who knew not me!) but the trancuspid regurgitation has gotten more severe over time. I have to have a few more test than another appt with my cardiologist to re-group and discuss treatment although it sounds like I have another open heart surgery procedure in my future. First step is Cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) in August and follow that up with a Cardiac MRI. Its nice to have some answers but still pretty scary.
**updated July 2023 I’ve been thru 3 cardiologist at the practice I visit for my care the first retired, the second transferred out of state and I have a new one now, when I was visiting with my second doctor I found out I had tricuspid regurgitation she was always conservative and we have been watching the condition and as long as I wasn’t having any symptoms we have gone on as usual she stated we would go the route of medicine first before any surgery. My new doctor (of only 4 visits) has been following the same plan but after a recent echo in June there were some changes which prompted her to order a transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) I had the procedure on July 17th and have my follow up appointment with the doctor on 7/28 to find out more info It sounds like I may have to have Cardiopulmonary exercise testing as well to determine what action to take I’ve been feeling a lot of anxiety due to this whole experience and feel as though I am in Limbo I’m not ready for another surgery although I have read that there have been many changes and that surgery is a lot less invasive from the procedure I had nearly 20 years ago. I have been waiting on the edge of my seat for this appointment tomorrow 7/28 to find out what is going on and what steps will need to be taken to move forward.
*First Diagnosed back in November 2000 after the birth of my first child I was under the care of my cardiologist everything was just fine and managed with medication but after the birth of our second child in Nov 2003 my condition worsened leading to a few trips to the emergency room and under the care of my cardiologist and many test I found out I needed to have an open Heart surgery procedure to either repair if possible or replace my mitral valve.
