About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with a heart murmur when I went to a doctor for something else, which led to multiple exams and finally a consultation with a cardiologist, who told me I would need to have open heart surgery in the next couple of years, or I would die.
Not what I was expecting that day when I went to the doctor! I bet that’s true for lots of people.
The first surgeon I saw didn’t tell me that the Ross Procedure existed. You can imagine my confusion and frankly anger when I found out there was a better, safer, more durable way to save my otherwise healthy heart.
The visit with Dr. El-Hamamsy and his team was night and day better than the visit with the first surgeon, God bless his heart. Dr. El-Hamamsy and his team made me feel perfectly comfortable talking through my history they needed to know in order to give me the best diagnosis and care. I scheduled the surgery on the spot.
The entire experience was outstanding, from intake to meeting everyone to the workers at the hospital, and OMG, especially the nurses who were so kind and patient. And I’ll never forget how sweetly and wonderfully I was cared for in the ICU. It made me want to stand up and walk around the next day, which I did!
Dr. El-Hamamsy and other doctors from his team came to visit me multiple times in the hospital as I healed there, answering questions, explaining what was happening and reassuring me that I was doing well.
One of Dr. El-Hamamsy‘s doctors, Roberto (sorry I don’t know your full name, friend) provided above and beyond aftercare help, reassuring me that things I was experiencing during my recovery were normal, and helping adjust my medication as needed. It is over two months later and I’m still recovering very well.
I could honestly not have wished for more. I will be forever grateful for Dr. El-Hamamsy‘s warmth and expertise, and that of his team, in saving my life. Just writing this is bringing me to tears. I am so grateful and proud of them, and of myself for choosing them.
I highly recommend calling their office if you are having heart valve issues.
