About Me (In My Own Words)
My first surgery was in 1996 for severe mitral valve regurgitation. An annulus ring was placed, valve was re-sectioned, and chords were repaired. It was done at Memorial Hospital in Modesto California by Dr's David Ellertson and Lit Fung. My second surgery was in 1999. I had a leak on the annulus ring with multiple jets. This repair was done at Seqoia Medical Center in Redwood City California by Dr. Vincent Gaudiani. My third surgery was for aortic root aneurysm and severe aortic valve regurgitation. This surgery was done at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto California by Dr. Joseph Woo. A graft was placed to repair the aneurysm and the aortic valve was resected to repair valve. I also had some atrial fibrillation after first surgery in 1996 but it had been controlled with medication for years until 2018 when I developed severe PVC's and chronic atrial flutter. I had a cardiac ablation in 2018 to address the PVC's and one type of atrial flutter. The ablation was mostly successful as the PVC burden went from around 26% to less than 2% of measured heart beats. The atrial flutter was no longer chronic but I still had short episodes that are mostly controlled with medication(Multaq and metoprolol). I am most likely having another ablation to attempt to reduce the atrial fib/flutter so that I can reduce the amount of medication I take. That will probably happen late 2020 or early 2021.
