I was diagnosed with aortic stenosis at 14 after my family physician heard my heart murmur. My condition has been monitored over the last 34 years with the understanding that at some point I might need valve replacement surgery. Well, I am now 48, and after having a stress echo done a few weeks ago, my cardiologist informed me that I need my valve replaced in the next 3 to 6 months. I am hoping this website will put my fears at ease as I prepare for the surgery.
