About Me (In My Own Words)
Diagnosed around 1994 at 19 years old with a mild regurgitation. I've followed up with Cardiologists regularly. On my follow up in Oct 2021 my cardiologist commented that it didn't sound the same and it has progressed to sever and would probably require surgery. Introduced to surgeon Terry Stelly and choose a date. Dr. Stelly performed OHS full sternotomy to repair the mitral valve. Recovery seemed rough, I'm usually an active person, that changed drastically. I also have a newfound respect for hot-flashes. 5 months post op and I have developed chronic chest soreness. I have not started working out and have kept physical activity low to heal. I do walk when I have the energy, which isn't often. I have not gotten use to being tired all the time.
