About Me (In My Own Words)
Okay. 77 years old. GP heard heart murmor 6 months ago. Referred to cardiologist. 5 tests. 2 echos. C/T of aorta. Sonagram lower aorta. TEE in hospital. Doctor says a lot of mitral valve regurgitation. Due for cardiac catherization in 2 weeks. The hospital, Brandon Regional, and cardiologist seem to be pressuring me into mitraclip, with daily Plavix afterward. I take stomach medicine. Probably will find Plavix torture for my hyper-sensitive stomach. Therefore I am leaning instead to robotic assisted mitral valve repair-more permanent and no Plavix needed. Thinking of getting a second opinion at a much bigger hospital, Sarasota Memorial cardiology where they do that procedure.
