About Me (In My Own Words)
I am still not sure as to when I will have MV replacement surgery. My symptoms are still not "too bad" according to my Cardiologist.
I am really hoping to have a Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement or non-invasive surgery rather than open heart. I live in Toronto, Canada. Unfortunately we are not as technologically advanced as it seems to be in the U.S. As it stands, this procedure is still very new here. As of now, I see my Cardio Specialist once per year. I will be seeing him this December and I am scheduled for an Echocardiogram test at that time as well to see the state of my MV since last December. I was diagnosed with sever MV Stenosis so I will eventually require a MV replacement. The cause of my valve issue was due to radiation treatment I had when I was 18 yrs old for Hodgkin's Lymphoma ( I am almost 53 yrs old now). I am so happy this treatment helped me beat cancer, but at the same time, I am now starting to suffer from the long term effects of the radiation treatment.
