About Me (In My Own Words)
I had a bicuspid aortic valve that was severely stenosed and calcified and received a Trifecta prosthetic aortic valve back in October 2017 (Trifecta Model TFGT-21). After receiving the prosthetic valve I felt better than I ever had. However, for the last year or so I have gradually noticed more and more fatigue and am constantly out of breath. Additionally in the last few weeks I almost "blacked out" while doing nothing exerting. Now, after all the recent testing it appears the prosthetic aortic valve is moderate-to-severe stenosed (already) according to the echocardiogram and the heart cath results said the valve had severe stenosis. Now, after all the testing to see if I qualified for TVAR, my TVAR team in my city said "NO" - it needs replaced. The Trifecta valve I received in 2017 is one of the models of valves that were pulled from use because of "the potential for early Structural Valve Deterioration (SVD)". I'm now working with Cleveland Clinic and just got started in what I call the "fix my heart" process. It has been a frustrating process since initially knowing my aortic valve needs fixed yet again, but I am forever grateful for having a few good years and look forward for a few more (if I can be fixed).
