About Me (In My Own Words)
This diagnosis came as a surprise. After 1 day of shortness of breath, I was directed to the Emergency Dept. and from there I was transferred to inpatient Urgent Care, all in the same day. I was sedated for more than a week while they opened my chest and repaired my mitral valve. I came home after more than two weeks in the hospital and was lucky enough to be cared for by my partner who is a retired RN with more than 30 years working in Telemetry. After approx six weeks, and although I am now 70% back to "normal", I began having episodes of depression and anxiety. I am looking for a support group.
