About Me (In My Own Words)
Hi everyone! It's comforting to know that I’m not the only person going through this ordeal. I was shocked when I heard that I had a bicuspid aortic valve with severe stenosis. I chose the bio prosthetic valve mainly because I didn't want to be on blood thinners the rest of my life since I'm only 55 years old. The biggest drawback, though, is they only last for 8-10 years for most folks. Then you have to through the whole ordeal again, unless you are a TAVR candidate. Either way, it sucks to have this condition because it's not one-and-done like most surgeries.
