About Me (In My Own Words)
If you haven’t already guessed by the time I am posting this sleep is becoming harder to come by. Although my journey began very shortly after I was born, up until last year there had never been any concerns with my health. I had a coarctation repair (end to end) done my first two weeks of life and was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve. At 9 months old Angioplasty was done at the coarctation sight. The next 27 years had gone by without any major issues or restrictions other than minor regurgitation. Summer of 2019 my cardiologist told me it was time to start planning an aortic valve replacement procedure. The leaking valve change from minor to moderate to now severe. Being 28 now the time has come to finally get this done after countless tests, conversations with surgeons and personal research. The thought of blood thinners for 40 years is something that has just completely turned me off to the mechanical valve so I chose Dr Paul Stelzer to perform the Ross Procedure. The advantages Dr Stelzer has laid out for me align with what I want to get out of this life time. It has been quite the task to get to where we are dealing with the COVID-19. Especially due to the procedure being done in NYC. My wife and I are lucky to have great friends who are housing us for our almost month stay in the city leading up to, during, and after the procedure. If anyone has recently had to travel post surgery during the pandemic please let me know how things went and if you have any advice on flying post procedure. Hope to update this more leading up to the surgery date not only for my personal journal but to maybe help anyone else who might be going through a similar process.
