About Me (In My Own Words)
I was diagnosed with murmur age 10; one year after having pneumonia. In my mid 20’s I developed fast heart rates and occasional a-fib. Meds worked for a bit but needed a mitral commisurotomy. That was at Upstate Medical and recovered quickly. In 1999 had Mitral Replacement by Dr. Blakeman. Now I’m 66 and wondering what is next for me. I do get winded at times but I’m doing pretty good and so is valve. I worry what happens when the surgeon removes my valve from 1999. Is it hard to get out without blood clots moving?
