About Me (In My Own Words)
I am 10 years old. I was born with the heart defect--Transposition Of The Great Arteries. This was corrected at 5 days old. When I was 3 years old, I had another surgery to put a patch over one of my arteries to make it wider so the blood would pump through. I continued to have aeortic snenosis. Last October, 2011, I had a valve section taken out and a pig valve added due to the narrowing of my valve. I had a check-up in May. My cardiologist found out that my pig valve is starting to narrow and my body is starting to break down the valve. They are going to watch to see if it gets worse. I guess they will then replace it again. I felt so much better after my surgery, but now it is so hard to take just a few steps without losing my breath.
