About Me (In My Own Words)
I had chest radiation for Hodgkins Disease 38 years ago. In early 2023 I began to experience severe exercise-limiting angina, and, before I could get completely evaluated, had a heart attack. I was diagnosed with extensive coronary artery disease and aortic stenosis. I have now had 10 stents implanted in three coronary arteries and am being monitored for progression of the valve disease. I was astonished by the interview with Dr Douglas Johnston that was posted in March. Until I saw that video I had no idea that radiation therapy could damage coronary vessels and heart valves.
