About Me (In My Own Words)
I was born with a bicuspid valve and have been tracking stenosis for 15 years or so - I was lucky that an internist thought my murmur sounded different, so we caught it very early. I had replacement surgery in December 2016 and things went without a hitch. Like most people on here will tell you, the first few days aren't a lot of fun, but it passes quickly and you're on your feet and making daily progress in no time. I'm one of the lucky ones who had no underlying heart disease, so for me, stenosis is like a bad dream. I see my cardiologist once a year. I feel great. I do pretty much what any other relatively healthy 61-year-old can do. And hopefully when this valve wears out, the less invasive procedure will be the norm.
