About Me (In My Own Words)
When I was 11 -1957- I came down with rhuematic fever. Knocked me out for 6 mos. Da da, heart murmur. Penacillin treatments for the next 8 yrs. For the last 16 yrs having annual physicals. For yrs been told that "someday you may have heart surgery". Past 10 yrs having shortness of breath which I took for granted. (btw-the only symptom - non smoker) Now with SFVA last 2 yrs my Echo CG showed aortic ascending valve enlarging ever so slightly. Current reading is 4.5 cm. Now I am scheduled for aortic valve replacement, before T-giving. (btw-history of sleep apnea since '95. Cpap treatment-which I did not adhere to religously, oops).
I have read PGTHVR cover to cover and will repeat. "Good job Adam, Thank YOU:! Have surfed the net re: avr. Watched the procedure. Ahhh! Cried in front of Dr last week. Now I am ready to go. Family and friends notified. More pre-op tests ahead.
Feel positive. Only fear/realization is the pain ahead. I have had 2 previous major ops, no stranger to that...probably why I cringe at the thought. "Let's do this"!
