About Me (In My Own Words)
I've felt awful for several months and got no answers from any MDs. I also had severe anemia, but all GI and other tests were normal. My Primary ordered specialty blood work that showed strep, and put me on IV antibiotics. The night sweats and fevers were better but my fatigue, shortness of breath, edema and cough became worse. I had an echo in early May and one two weeks later showed severe MV damage. I'm scheduled for MV replacement, and tricuspid repair, early next month.
I can't wait to feel better but I'm scared.
I'm also not in great shape from the infection and the anemia. I'm way underweight, not a good way to get healthy, but I'm relatively healthy. Aside from this, my only other issues are seasonal allergies and a bad knee, really nothing to speak of, I'm not on any meds.
It's hard to go from an active, healthy life to being a "cardiac patient". It really is a roller coaster.
