About Me (In My Own Words)
My heart murmur was diagnosed in my late teens. Started actively monitoring it in my 40's and 50's. Warned by a cardiologist at some point that surgery would be likely someday. Years later, after discovering I was in A-fib during an unrelated pre-op workup, in Nov. 2012, I went through a full cardiac workup and was told that it is time to get my mitral valve repaired. EEK! It was the moment I had been dreading my entire life. Now I had to face the frightening and inevitable...heart surgery.
After a month of searching, I have chosen Dr. Gillinov at Cleveland Clinic to do my mitral valve surgery. I feel confident I will be in good hands and am anxiously awaiting my scheduled date of May 22nd.
