Richard,
Congratulations on your 10 years of sobriety! In 2 months I will celebrate 35 years of being clean and sober!
On July 28 I had open heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. All the pain meds they gave me made me really sick- and basically out of it for less than 24 hours so all I could take was regular Tylenol. Be sure to tell your physician about your sobriety. Remember you are in a controlled situation and as far as I believe you are NOT breaking your clean and sober state. Remember it is after you get out of the hospital and if you take more than what is prescribed then you would really need to question yourself and motives.
Tomorrow will be 7 weeks post op. I am single and went up there by myself from Texas. My brother lives in Oklahoma and came for 2 days. You can do this. I am 65- 66 next month! If you are worried about your daughter taking care of you you can research rehab centers in your area. At the suggestion of a fellow heart warrior on this site- Steven- I went to rehab in Ohio for 11 days until I could get my balance and be independent and to fly back on my own. One of the best suggestions and experience!! There are a lot of stories and suggestions on how to do and what to do on this site. There is all kinds of help- prayers included! Best Wishes! The Serenity Prayer is very powerful. Some days I continued to say it over and over to get me through those moments. You know which ones those are!
Blessings
