Glad to hear you are doing well Katie! Really neat to read the journal and the story. Take it easy and don't rush back too fast which I believe in your family means keep the runs under 15 miles for the next few weeks.
Thoughts and prayers, Pete, Janine, Ellie
OK Kiddo. Now that you have been up and around, KEEP AT IT! My routine was sleep - walk - sleep - walk - eat - walk etc. Clocked 6 miles before they sent me home. Kickstarted that recovery. You're an athlete and know the benefits of exercise. Now you get to experience the remarkable advantage exercise gives you in recovering from surgery. Just don't overdo it. See my journal for more info.
And... let us know when you've put a mile in around the wards, that'll qualify you for monster status. Should be easy for ya!
We accidentally sent the previous message before it was complete. What we meant to say was: Your roommates are missing you back home at the treehouse. Know that we are wishing you a smooth recovery and look forward to when we will be able to visit :-)
Katie! I am so impressed by your positive attitude and desire to be well informed about all aspects of your health. It is great that you are sharing your experience to help others and to keep your friends and family informed. Good luck tomorrow - we are all sending positive thoughts and energy your way!! Meha
Nice to see you today Katie :) I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday!! I'm just down the street so please please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need anything. Also! I'll be keeping watch of your blog to find out when I can come visit :)
You have been in my thoughts lately and I couldn't pin down why and then I saw a link to this on your sisters facebook- so now I know! You are the strongest person I know. It was an honor to grow up next to you and watch you swim all those years. I'll be thinking about you on February 5th!
Hey Katie, you were always such a strong swimmer and it is so crazy that you did all those races with just one lung. I haven't talk to you since high school, but I will be thinking and praying for you on Feb 5th!!! This page that you set up is also soooo cool! Megan Neeck(Perron)
Thank you for setting up this website, I am so glad to be able to follow you!! I've been sending love and prayers your way and will continue to do so for the next few weeks. If I know you at all, I'm positive you will be skiing, swimming, running, etc in no time!
Hi Katie, I am a lifelong friend of Holly's. She shared this link on FB. I had my valve replaced 5 weeks ago. Unlike you, I waited 55 years for my bicuspid valve to make itself known! I will be praying for you. You sound like an amazing young lady and I wish you a quick recovery so you can get back to enjoying all the things you love!
Katie- Lindsay here. What a wonderful thing that you are sharing your experience this way. I'll be checking back regularly, for your updates, and also for those promised pictures. If there is one thing of which we can be 100% confident, it is that the Roberts family will have more than enough pictures, and fine ones, too!!
I will be sending positive thoughts and prayers your way in the coming weeks! Reading your story reminded me how much I admire your amazing family! I think Will was just starting school and was in my classroom around the time of your surgery when you were 11... Your strength and courage throughout the surgery THEN was inspiring and now it seems that you are facing this obstacle with the same grace, determination and positivity! Your parents must be so proud of you!
HI KATIE BUG,
WE WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS DAILY.
WE CANT WAIT FOR THIS ALL TO BE BEHIND YOU SO YOU CAN GET BACK TO YOUR YOUNG , BEAUTIFUL, FUN FILLED LIFE THAT LIES AHEAD!
LOT'S OF LOVE,
ANN & TOM
Katie - I'm not sure what to say beyond I'll be thinking of you on the 5th, and hoping for a fast recovery. CHB is an amazing place, so I'm glad you're here in Boston to have surgery. I'd be no use helping you get back into marathon shape after surgery, but if you need anyone to do lazy day TV marathons or board games with, I'm certainly in!
Well I just read your story and just wanted to say you sound so strong. I am facing AVR in about a week. We are traveling from Denver,CO to Duke medical center to have it done. Good luck and we will say our prayers for you.
