Hey Joel
That was a super report you just filed. Hearing such good reports only six month\'s later has to make some of those getting ready to go through surgery feel a lot more confident of the possible healing process. I know you have quite a physical job so it\'s really good to note there is a better life after surgery.
Seeing spring come this years means so much more this year, doesn\'t it? I just thank the Lord I can appreciate every day.
My warmest regards to you and your family and I pray you continue to thrive.

Wanted to drop by to wish you and your family a very extra special Happy Easter this year. We are well and does life get any better than that? I pray your six month anniversary has as good a report as mine.
How are you managing at work? I know your job is a busy one. Do you find it getting easier? I hope so.
Cheers.

Hi Joel, haven\'t heard from you in a while. How is it going? Well, I trust. How is work going, are you still tired?? (hope it doesn\'t take that year you mentioned). Forgive me if I repeat myself, but did you go through cardio rehab? If so, did it help? How\'s your family? Do they see improvements in life getting back to normal? Inquiring minds want to know.
Take it easy,

Hi Joel
Thanks for the well wishes. I\'m sitting with my laptop while we are enjoying the Olympics and saw your message.
I imagine in a few days I should see if there is any improvement and will definitely report what happens. I was so relieved whent the doctor started writing a prescription I could have hugged him.
How are you making out? Are you getting used to being out and at work early in the day and managing to put in your hours without a nap? While I reported that I returned to work 13 days after surgery, I did stress that I worked from home so I could put my feet up and nap when I wanted.
I can tell my husband is becomming very comfortable with my recovery as he bit by bit lets me take over the household chores. Yesterday he was stripping wallpaper in the kitchen and needed the vacuum which had been left upstairs. I think I was a little stunned but went and got it anyway knowing full well I could carry it. I couldn\'t lay hands on my crown. Guess I was getting a little too used to the Queenie role! Inwardly it is good to know Pete is relaxing too as we return to our normal lives. Has your wife started to relax about your abilities?
Take care. Warmest wishes to you and your family. Cheryl, Ontario

Hi Joel,

I cannot believe what you are saying about how tired you are and how how it is after 4 months out and that it could take up to a year (although we had heard that as a long range, but 3-6 months was the better scenario). Yikes, that will not bode well with Richard -he knows he is tired and weak but raring to go already. He is a builder/carpenter and will want to be pounding nails as soon as he can. This is tough stuff, isn\'t it Joel!
Still, good that you are back to work - it has only been a few weeks, right? I expect although you may be knocked back a little, you will still make progress every week until one day you just don\'t even think about it!

Once again, thank you for your kind words. It really does help.
How is work going? Did you find you were totally exhausted after your first week? At least working from home I can go take a nap if absolutely necessary but your job sounds pretty physical. I hope you are managing at any rate. Thank goodness you have a great co-worker.
I get the monitor off Wed. so I\'ll be anxious to get my report. Perhaps what I find out will serve to give some positive support to the others. Hopefully it is positive news or at least, easily fixed and I mean PILLS! The darn thing was singing and dancing a lot yesterday and then my mind goes right to work.
Happy Valentine\'s Day to you and your family. It is extra special this year. Cheryl, Ontario

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I\'ve just been fitted with the heart monitor (never had one before) and will wear it for two weeks. Quite the gadget. I can handle what I know - t\'s the guessing that I find hard. Of course so far today there haven\'t been any incidents! Hope you are managing work okay. It gets easier. Cheryl, Ontario

Thank you for your note in my journal. Many years ago we lived in Davenport and we know first hand the kindness of Iowans. Our 2 oldest graduated from high school there and we all remember Iowa with fondness (except for the brutal winters)! Glad you have done well and will continue to do so. Next month for me,hope it comes soon.

Good news Joel. It is important for obvious reasons to get back to work and your normal routine. I was saying to my husband that it must be strange to wonder how you will do your first day back to normal work - sounds like your work is pretty physical as is my husband\'s. Sounds like you are understandably nervous but pleasantly surprised that it all went well. By the end of the week you will probably be exhausted but you can get some well deserved rest!

Hi Joel
How nice is was to see your posting this morning and to know you are heading back to work. Good luck with that. Today will probably be a tough one after having been away for a while so hopefully work will understand if you drag a wee bit. I still have issues now and then with my sternum and from what Adam and some others say, it may take a long time to feel totally pain free. I too feel close to many on this site because we share a common ground and it\'s easy to share our fears, worries and better still, recovery accomplishments. I read all of the journals and as the site grows, it takes longer. I try and write encouragement to the others when I can because I know how much I appreciated a kind word. Anyway, I\'m really happy your recovery has gone well and pray you continue to gain strength. Best wishes to you and your family. Cheryl, Ontario

Joel, congratulatins on getting back to work! That is a milestone. So nice that you are so interested and involve in everyone\'s journals. I am looking at them for my husband right now, and looking at as many as I can, but my time is limited as he/we are still in ICU - but I know he will be looking at them intently once he is home recouping. I thought about today we would be heading home, but it will be some time yet - haven\'t been told as yet when he will even get out of ICU. I know he will look forward to enjoying the same milestone as you - getting back to work, but one day at a time right now.

Hi Joel,
I am a newcomer to the website, am working my way through everyone\'s journals and really appreciate the honesty that patients show when telling their stories. I hope that you keep up your journal, it is just as important for me to find out the \'after\' as the \'before\'. I appreciated your reflections today.

I\'m getting ready to leave tomorrow for my mitral valve repair surgery. Honestly, I\'m glad it\'s finally here. You can only hold your breath for so long. Thank you for your posts to my guestbook along the way. I appreciate your kindness, your prayers, and your faith in Christ. It means so much to have the friendship and support of others who have been there. May you continue to experience God\'s healing and strengthening, and I look forward to hearing how you\'re doing when I resurface.

What a good laugh that little essay was to read. Good to keep your sense of humor (humour in Canada!)under all this duress. Does your rehab not have bikes? I use the treadmill because I prefer to walk but most of the others are on bikes. Just thinking the bike wouldn't be as hard on your feet. Cheryl, Ontario
