I'm happy that my advice was helpful. Early in my recovery I wrote a long report and gave some further pre-op as well as post-op advice.
As to your current situation, always follow your surgeons advice, but there is nothing to be gained by waiting. Your body is suffering, in one way or another, from lack of blood. The sooner you get the surgery the sooner your body will get back to normal.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. I'm so glad that you went to rehab It's so true that it gives one more confidence in the exercises they do. It's been almost 4 months for me and I still get the dull aching in my upper chest about 4 inches left and right of the incision. I always have to make sure I do the upper body stretching exercises 2 times a day...which seems to help.
Again, so glad you are doing so well. God is good.

Glenn, I started rehab the middle of this week. My surgery was exactly 3 weeks ago today. I commented on that to he rehab nurses this morning while on the treadmill. I think that 3 weeks was a good starting point. But I have be walking indoors everyday. I also monitor my walking with pedometer. Have done 21K steps this week.
Those are my thoughts and experience to date. We're on the road to recovery.

Your fitness will help you a great deal to recover. Two tips I would share with you. First, do what you can do each day but don't overdo it. There is a price to be paid after doing too much that I have paid a few times.
Second, cardiac rehab is quite valuable.

Good to hear from you. Since I've been home (2 weeks today) I've been watching for updates from the December/January class. Sounds like you and most everyone is doing well and we are in similar paths to recovery.
I just got home from the first cardio rehab session. 15 minutes on the treadmill. A good starting point.
All the professionals that I talk with always comment on my surgeon (how good he does, how we'll the incision looks, and how quick his patients recover. This Friday will be 3 weeks since surgery.
I was in the hospital 6 days. Not bad. I feel good, but I know I don't have the stamina to be at work(so sad-not!). I'll be back in that grind before I know it. Mostly I miss seeing and talking to my coworkers.
Will be watching for your updates.i know that Marcia had her valve replaced on Friday the 3rd. And Annette's was the day before mine. So it is like a graduating class.

good mornning glenn. glad to hear your doing well. i went into surgery 2 in one day so its taking me little long to get back into the grove. was out of frist surgery about 7 hrs then had a leak in the by pass. my hardest things so far is the coughing i don't think i have had a good cough yet. I keep pillows close that seem to work better for me as the heart pillow is to big for me to cross armes over.. one day at a time and all this welll be so behind us.

My nurses were amazed at my core and lower body strength. Also your comment about recovery breathing. After 12 weeks I was able to swim with a board (not able to do
Breast strike Or Crawl yet) twice as many lengths as before surgery! As you said my circulation is so much better too. So good that you updated all of us on your condition. God is good.
1 question. Did they have to go up into your arch for repair or not? They were not sure if they would have to do that with me, but they didn't have to.

It will go fine. Being in active health will help in the recovery. They had me walking 3 days later.
