You have broken the Guiness record for longest surviving heart valve recipient!
50 years with the same ball-in-cage aortic heart valve!! The Guiness Book of Records lists the longest surviving heart valve recipient as Doris Clare who received an AVR in 1969. But you received your ball-in-cage valve in 1967 which is earlier than Doris! You should be the official record holder! Although Guiness is not very clear on defining how they measure the record. But it seems you have had the SAME mechanical valve for the longest time of anyone on the planet! Congratulations. Someone should tell Guiness.

dick f Yeah I know. I've looked into that and it may be difficult for me to get the info they require as few of my records still exist with the medical folks. If I make it to 50 years, and I fully expect too, I may make an effort to claim that record. Frankly, because of the valve design of the newer mechanicals, a 50 year valve will probably stand for a long, long time. I know of a man in Ohio, Bob Baker, that has had a mechanical valve ( he is on his third valve) since 1961and I think he is still around.
So you have had the same mechanical valve for 50 YEARS! Amazing!
