I am leaning toward the tissue. in years to come the percutaneous surgery, like a stent for blockages may be possible. I am going to ask if I get a bovine or porcine if that puts me in that criteria in 10 years or so. That would be so worth not being anticoagulated. thanks for your response. best to you always.

DIANE MONETTE it seems after discussing with my CARDIA SURGEON that surgeons and Cardiologists, do not seem to agree on which kind of valve is best.
y surgeon prefers the tissue one.
While my cardiologist like the mechanical. I THINK the tissue one is a better choice since I won t be committed to a lifetime of Coumadin blood thinner, a lifetime of monthly blood tests and worrying about bleeding to death if I fall and bruise myself. And taking a lifetime of blood thinners along with other types of medication once must take as we age.... you know the ones, is a cocktail of death to me!! Tissue valve last 15 years........ and then by then new research will bring new treatments.
SO why take mechanical unless the surgeon gives you a better reason . I know from reading the CLEVELAND CLINIC WEBSITE, it seems they prefer tissue also .... take your time to decide. I think 15 more good years of life without blood thinners sounds tastier to me.
Diane,
Best of luck to you in your upcoming surgery. You\'ll be in my thoughts and prayers.
