I had some nausea after surgery but think it was related to medicine (I was on Amioderone for a while). I also thought it was more like an acid reflux at times and would depend on what I ate. Some nights I slept sitting up in the recliner because I couldn't lie down comfortably.

Clare gave you a great answer. Since you still have some time, I suggest you acquaint yourself with the Learning Center. You will find so much information there, most of which will help to put you at ease.
I started in the top third with some things that pertain only to my condition. Now I am working my way through the middle group and am about to move on to the last group. I have set a goal for myself to read at least two topics a day. Sometimes I will get a lot more in, sometimes just two. But it has been a real help to my learning curve. And it is really put together well with diagrams, videos, and comments make by many patients who have been there before you.
I'm still asking questions, but have found that to be a tremendous resource. Blessings!

I am 46 and got a mechanical valve on 1/9/14. I could drive after one month. I was off 8 weeks (really 10 because of spring break). I am a special ed teacher and when I went back, my only restriction was not lifting more than 10 pounds. I am almost 5 months post surgery. Sore today because I painted my daughter's room yesterday and helped with mowing the yard this morning....things are returning to normal.

Christine Walters thank you Clare for responding! that helps! I think I am going to stay out 12 if I can afford it! Im a nurse and my employer is not great about modified. My biggest complaint three weeks out is nausea!! Im not on narcotics anymore. fatigue and nausea. yuck
