My husband Ken is one week post-op MV repair and today we had a scare when he had about 30 seconds of a cramp like pain starting in the right side of his neck and going to his right shoulder...it gave him the cold sweats. I took his BP and pulse immediately and they were within a normal range. I called our cardiologist and he says as long as he does not have any BP or pulse changes or swelling in his legs that it is probably a musculoskeletal issue. He had a second much milder episode several hours later this evening and I will be calling the cardiologist tomorrow. He has never had symptoms...even pre-operatively so I was interested when I read your journal.
Please keep us posted on your progress!
Glad to hear you are improving. I am 3 weeks post-op MVR repair and I too experienced quite a severe pain on my left side near my heart that lasted at least 6-8 minutes. My BP was within normal ranges so I called the hospital and after running through my lack of other symtoms they decided it was probably a muscle spasm or angina or ? This was in the middle of the night so we decided to let it go. Experiencing anything heart related post-op is most frightening because we just don't expect to have anything else happen to us. I know I'll be awfully relieved to see the surgeon in another couple of weeks to see what he has to say. Continued good luck on your recovery. Cheryl, Ontario
