Hi Ann, I am the other Linda in SC. If you want a lot of good info, read Linda D, Mitch Friedman Nancy Friedman (non cuz) and Ricki Shine. All of them and others have helped me out with this process. Now I just want to get it over with and get on with a normal life. I just have to convince the doctor of this.
This site is amazing you will be amazed at all the new friends you will meet and how close we all get. I am so happy I have found it. You will be fine I think you will probably get some help somewhere when the time comes. Good luck to you.
For the long haul

ann McWhinney thank you very much. Your story is so encouraging. I am also very rural. Wonder what they will say about my walking. Yesterday the nurse called - she positively nixed the idea of me walking out to close up the animals. She also didn't like the question about when I could use a chainsaw again. During March of 2011 we lost lots of trees and couldn't cut more than about 45 hours because of the care I was providing for my husband who died last Oct. Still have the downed wood everywhere. When asked about medications I told her that I take metformin for diabetes and the m&m pills for stress relief. She said WHAT, did you say m&m. But you are a diabetic. She was not happy. But my gp doesn't raise a fuss as I am controlled. A potato is a whole lot worse and it sure beats a RX. Somehow I think I will have to get thru the surgery without the m&m's. Oh, well
Your journal gave me a heads up about the blood pressure. Mine is also low.
Thank you for sharing
Ann
