Good luck with your surgery. I will keep you in my prayers and may you have an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery. You will be amazed at how quickly the time passes. I started rehab this week, already 8 wks post -op! The time will fly!! Good Luck.

Best of luck to your tomorrow....I will be rooting and praying for you and be anxious to learn how you are doing. I, too, am having aortic valve replacement surgery next week on the 12th. by then you should be well on the road to recovery.

I was really worried about the breathing tube also, but it wasn\'t that bad. I was very awake right after surgery, and it was in for about an hour before they pulled it. It is not painful, but it is uncomfortable. Your doctors discription of a snorkel is a good one. My nurse told me to keep trying to breath on my own so they could pull the tube, so that is what I did. It gave me a job to do, and that was really helpful to keep my mind on something. I was also very awake when they pulled it out. Not pleasant, but it only takes a couple seconds and then you feel so much better,,,,,and you can talk!

Hi, Angela -- Good luck with your surgery. I had my mitral and tricuspid valves repaired 10 days ago and am home, sitting at the kitchen table, enjoying a cup of coffee and listening to the birds. You make a very interesting point about being careful to remember we\'re all different, we all handle things differently, and it\'s probably not helpful to compare.
The breathing tube: some people remember it, some people don\'t. I *is* survivable. Don\'t panic, they may have your hands loosely restrained. Someone will be watching you like a mama bear, making sure you are safe. Just try to relax into it.
