"I cannot recommend Dr. Gupta highly enough.
Throughout my experience, working with Dr. Gupta was a constant pleasure. I appreciated her knowledge and her uncanny ability to anticipate my questions so that I didn’t have to remember them all, myself. She was always sweet and a great source of comfort for my family as she communicated with us continuously.
In the days and weeks following my TAVR with Dr. Gupta, I began to realize that I was breathing better than I had in years. I felt incredibly wonderful and had never realized that I had been feeling so bad for so long. My strength started to return and for the first time in years — I started line dancing again!
Dr. Gupta’s ability to give me a new heart valve with such a brief, hardly noticeable procedure, gave me a whole new perspective and changed my outlook on life. I was feeling young again and enjoying activities I thought I had long since aged out of.
This was the greatest gift of all — and I have Dr. Gupta to thank for it! She is absolutely marvelous!"

"I was so short of breath that I couldn’t even make the bed without resting. Yoga and Zumba classes were impossible. I knew I needed heart valve surgery. Fortunately, my husband is a physician and devoted himself to my care.
While doing his research, my husband became interested in minimally invasive, transcatheter aortic valve implantations (TAVR) which have spared valve patients from being cut open and needing to recover for several months. My husband also used the Cedars-Sinai virtual second opinion platform to have all my records reviewed by a nurse coordinator. The nurse then paired me with Dr. Aakriti Gupta.
Meeting with Dr. Gupta was a pleasure. Dr. Gupta listens well, anticipated my questions, and was very understanding about my feelings and concerns. My husband also studied artificial valves and learned about the JenaValve — a new transcatheter valve that overcomes the challenges of prior valves by using special anchoring spokes to secure it safely into place. It has been developed to counter challenges with patients where the aortic ring, or annulus, does not have calcium to help secure an artificial valve into place. The new JenaValve means that patients like me could now safely have TAVR.
Having the procedure was easy. I had no pain or soreness. After just a day and a half in the hospital, and a few more in the hotel, my husband and I could drive home! I felt healthier and could breathe better right away. Within three weeks, I had overcome my symptoms and was able to make the bed without resting. I could even return to yoga! I absolutely recommend Dr. Gupta. She gave me my life back at what seemed like a very low cost to me in terms of discomfort and inconvenience – all the while being caring and empathetic. In this way, it can be said that Dr. Gupta treats the whole patient.
Thanks to Dr. Gupta, even making the bed is now quick, easy, and enjoyable!"
