About Me (In My Own Words)
Hi, thank you for allowing me to share my story. My name is Lorie and live in the Metro-Detroit area of Michigan. I was originally diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis in my 40's, was mild/stable until March of 2016, which showed severe/critical valve disease (confirmed by echo cardiogram). I'm not immune to disease issues, as I am 5-time Cancer survivor since the age of 17 years old, all different primary malignancies. Last year, in February of 2015, my beautiful son, TJ, ended his life. It has been a year of enormous grief, sorrow and well, heartbreak. My Cardiologist believes that his death, could have put my valve disease over the edge, so to speak. I believe that. While, I have developed coping skills through my life, with insurmountable challenges, nothing prepares a parent in the loss of a child. I meet with the Cardiovascular Surgeon this upcoming Monday, May 9th. And, frankly speaking...I'm very worried.
I posted two pictures of my son, TJ. In the photo section.
