About Me (In My Own Words)
Known about the heart murmur since 1969 when I was rejected by the Army, didn't know about it before that. Known about the bi-cuspid AOV since mid-seventies. They've been watching it yearly and the past 3 years twice a year. This past 6 months the symptoms have increased and I've been getting pain more frequently. The AOV is severely stenotic and I now have a moderately blocked coronary artery. Things escalated this May when I did poorly on my stress test. My first appointment with the surgeon is tomorrow 07/13/15. The irony is not lost on me that the bad valve may have saved my life, by keeping me out of Vietnam.
