Hi Shelley, my thoughts & prayers will be with you as you go into surgery. I had my mini mitral valve repair surgery on 10/26/15. I also had severe mitral regurgitation with really no symptoms. It's better for them to repair or replace the valve before the heart is damaged. My surgery went well & yours will too. Take care. Liz

Hi Shelley. I too am a mitral valve patient with severe regurgitation. Our surgeries are scheduled a day apart. I am scheduled to have my valve robotically repaired November 11! Prior to my surgery, I spoke with a friend who had been through my procedure (mitral valve replacement or repair). During our conversation, I wrote down lots of questions and because the clock wasn't ticking, I could absorb what was most important to me. Also, Adam's book provided lots of answers. And then after my surgery, the cardiologist in my surgeon's office was incredibly helpful because the surgeon doesn't tell you all the things that happen in the first few weeks after your operation. But let me tell you, my surgery was last October, and it gave me a new lease on life. Plus, most days I don't even remember I had a problem. That is my hope for you.
