Hi Mike Thank you for your thoughts on choice of valve mechanical vs biological - very well thought through. I am 56 (aortic stenosis/suspected bicuspid valve). My surgeon initially recommended a mechanical valve but said it was a grey area for me as a biological valve could last 15 years+ and in 5+ years TAVR 'may' be perfected for 15 year life (no promises). The Coumadin doesn't worry me too much it is the mechanical noise that I think will worry me. I sat with someone with a mechanical Mitral valve and it seemed very loud, although she said there were probably reasons why her valve was particularly loud and said she had got used to it.. How are you finding your valve now?
