Hi again. I found that Medical supply stores rent them out and sell them. I already have a recliner lounge chair but it is not an electric lift chair and this seems, according to all the Journals to be an important part of post surgical recovery. Good old yellow pages are a good start and then just start calling. I found the prices can vary. Then I went and looked at one in the store that had the lowest price. I asked a few questions as to deliver and set up, etc.. My family history is interesting probably only to me, but my dad died when I was 16 from kidney failure caused by congestive heart failure. He had rheumatic fever as a teen and I was told by my mother that he was never thought to live much past his early twenties. He lived to be 47, but I remember well the swollen ankles and the load of pills he used to take. He had enlarged heart. The first time I noticed my swollen ankles was from a long airplane trip. I was alarmed thinking of my father and his situation, but didn't know I had a murmur until age 40 and now 30 years later I had a name for the disease. Aortic stenosis. I am classified as severe and so expect the next step on the next cardio visit. Have a great day and I too hope Florida warms up. Brrrrr we are all spoiled down here.

Meredith, welcome to the Community. I too am waiting...waiting and more waiting. You can read my story and see that I am on the 6 month checkup with my cardiologist for the last 1 1/2 and have been told by my PCP to expect surgery within a 2 year time frame and that of course was 1 1/2 yrs ago. I go the last of Feb for an echocardiogram and the first week of March to the Cardiologist. Last visit the Cardio talked about AVS but that he wanted to do more test first. He also wanted me to lose 50 #. So I have lost 40 # and working on the last 10 #. Waiting is a part of the progress with this medical issue. I am much older than you but still do not fill the bill for TAVR surgery. Reading the Journals in this Community will help you see what to expect and what you may need to prepare for. I have already lined up a lift lounger, which I will rent and have talked to family about after surgery care, but do read the Journals for yourself. I am sure you will do great.

Meredith Bray Thanks Susan! Maybe we'll be going through this at the same time? Where did you line up the lift lounger? I'm thinking about that as well, as I'm anticipating my parents being part-time babysitters and unable to help me out of the chair.
