DAY 17 Post op. It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve posted. I was very focused on getting to and through Dave’s surgery that I didn’t think much of recovery. He had a couple of set backs in the hospital and at home.
He had bouts of Afib and Aflutter on days 3-5. Aflutter lasted 24 hours before meds kicked in. Was going to have a cardio version if it didn’t clear with meds. Was sent home on day 7. Had a few short bouts of elevated heart rate. On day 11, his heart rate was low, he had neck, shoulder and rib cage pain on the left side. We ended up going to the ER in the early hours of the morning. He was diagnosed with pericardial effusion , was admitted back in hospital and has a procedure to drain the fluid from around his heart. There was close to a liter. He stayed in for 2 nights and had bad Afib. All vitals were really good and he didn’t have any pain.
He has been having good days, vitals and blood work are great. Hoping things are calming down and moving forward. Actual pain has been almost non existant.
