MitraClip & The COAPT Clinical Trial: Michele's Success Story
Patients with mitral regurgitation often suffer from heart failure. The symptoms of these related conditions include fatigue, shortness of breath and chest pain. Watch this patient success video to see the inspirational story of Michele Golden. Michele was in the hospital several times due to heart failure. She was about to go on a heart transplant list when Dr. Mark Ricciardi saw an opportunity to use the MitraClip to treat Michele. The MitraClip is a non-invasive medical device that minimizes mitral regurgitation in patients with heart failure. Dr. Ricciardi enrolled Michelle in the COAPT clinical trial which ultimately proved that the MitraClip was safe-and-effective for the treatment of mitral regurgitation in patients with heart failure. This is Michele's journey to a healthy heart! Congratulations to Michele! Congratulations to Dr. Mark Ricciardi and the Northwestern Medicine team in Chicago, Illinois.
