"I can honestly say that my experience was very good. I was told in 2000 that I would probably have to have my aortic valve replaced so i was lucky in that I knew that I would have to have the surgery. Another good thing was that after a trip, when I experienced some symptoms, shortness of breath, which made me aware that I need to see my cardiologist about it. He convinced me to have the surgery while I was in reasonably good health and not too old yet. So I more or less had the heart valve replacment as an elective surgery instead of waiting for a life-threatening situation. I was sent to Dr. Washburn, the surgeon, who agreed that I needed the surgery and was ready to admit me almost immediately. I had some preliminary tests done and was admitted within a couple of weeks, had the surgery, did really good, except for some irregular heartbeat problems and am very thankful that I had it done when I did. It worked out great and I was back to work in 7 weeks, working 5 days, 40 hrs a week. Washburn is a very good heart surgeon and I recommend him most highly. "
