"Excellent surgeon! He’s done both of my open heart surgeries (aortic and mitral valve replacement) which were 12 years apart and when my wife had to have open heart surgery (aortic valve replacement and bypass) she wanted him to be her surgeon. Great bedside manner and could not ask for better results. "

"Dr. Brewster and his team were the best. He spent as much time as needed pre-surgery to answer any and all questions. His bedside manner is professional, plus he has a good sense of humor. I was in great hands and now over a year post surgery I am doing well & leading an active lifestyle. Kudos to the staff at Scripps Prebys Cardiovascular Hospital."

"Dr. Brewster is a calm, open, and professional presence. I was exceptionally nervous in our first consultation, (he was late out of surgery and my file was quite thick, so it took some time to review, and I was claustrophic in the exam room). So, although he was systematic and through in his review of my case and soft and gentle in explaining things to me, none of it stuck in my brain. I consulted another surgeon at UCLA, and then returned to Dr. Brewster, who again was kind, thorough, professional and systematic in discussing the procedure (mitral valve replacement, possible aortic valve replacement, and 1 CABG), the issues around valve choice, and all my concerns. The second time I was able to hear, and see his steady, matter of fact manner and take comfort in it. I had some auxillary issue that required coordination across all my doctors, including my nephrologist, and a delay in surgery. They were all handled by him and his staff smoothly. I'm now 1 year after surgery, the whole process went very well. Surgery and hospitalization went smoothly and surprisingly quickly. Dr. Brewster, his staff, and the staff of the Prebys Cardiovascular Institute at Scripps were grand. I'm now in better shape than I was two years ago thanks to Dr. Brewster, Dr. Du (my cardiologist) and all the other folks in the Scripps system that have taken care of me through this journey from infective endocarditis, through surgery, to recovery. "Meeting with Dr. Brewster immediately put me at ease. He listens and takes the time to answer questions. Not only a skilled surgeon, but also a very nice man! He repaired my Mitral Valve, and replaced 3 ruptured chords that hold the leaflet. I am impressed also with his staff and the follow up after you leave the hospital. I experienced very little pain and 3 1/2 weeks post op doing very well. My incision is beautiful! I don't know if they will let me into the "Zipper" club it's so nice! Thanks Dr. Brewster and staff. Highly recommend!"

"Dr. Scot Brewster repaired by my bicuspid aortic valve in February of 2002 by performing the Ross Procedure. Due to dilation of my aortic root, Dr. Brewster performed valve sparing aortic root replacement in May 2011. I highly recommend Dr. Brewster. He is highly skilled, very kind, explains all options, and has a nice/caring bedside manner. I have been happy with the results after both surgeries."

"Scot was the best! Great bedside manner - outstanding surgeon. I had absolutely zero problems. He explained all the types of valves available and his recommendations. He answered every question my wife and I had and was very empathetic. He operated on my friend Jack a year before my surgery with the same exact valve - and was highly recommended to me - Now I know why."
