"Dr. Gott and his entire team could not have taken any better care of me, from the initial sit-down conference to explain the surprises discovered in my echocardiogram and the purpose of the surgery, to extensive pre-op planning and diagnostic studies including cardiac cath to make sure I was a good surgical candidate. He was personally readily available by phone during the two weeks before my surgery to answer additional questions that arose as we were researching my condition and finding solutions on the Heart Valve Surgery Forum. Everyone on Dr. Gott’s team was excellent and caring from the morning of the surgery, where I was introduced to all the professionals who would care for me in the operating room, to the ICU staff (nurse Katie is a rock star) and later to the team in the "step-down" unit. Dr. Gott is inherently compassionate and kind and is definitely gifted by God for this profession and we were blessed to be placed in his care.
Piedmont Hospital's Marcus Heart Valve Center is a remarkable addition to the southeast medical scene, and I’m surprised it is not yet a partner on the “forum”. Even family members are attended to with great care, from updates during surgery to wonderful facilities where they can eat and sleep. As to the surgical result, it's five weeks after the operation and my heart is performing exactly as everyone expected. I feel very blessed to have been cared for in such a fine facility by such a topnotch team."
