"I was in the process of moving from Boston to San Diego when my decades-long mitral regurgitation became symptomatic. I had to quickly decide if I wanted it done before our move (and stay with friends) or have it done in San Diego...when consulting with my cardiologist and surgeon in Boston, open heart surgery was recommended. There was no option of anything less invasive. I decided to continue as planned with our move to San Diego where my new cardiologist recommended that I see cardio-thoracic surgeon, Dr James Hemp, who had already performed hundreds of robotic procedures. The procedure was flawless - I went in on an early Tuesday morning for the procedure and was discharged at noon on Thursday. I'm now almost 70 and am a red cross certified pool lifeguard, teach water aerobics classes, and hope to be teaching swimming lessons to adults this summer. There's no doubt in my mind, Dr Hemp saved my life."

"Also had ascending aortic aneurysm repaired. Dr. Hemp was amazing. He not only took time with us answering ALL of our questions in the meetings prior to surgery, but even provided us with the "before" and "after" photos on 8x10 photo paper per our request! He was calm, confident, and obviously well respected by nurses, other surgeons, and cardiologists."

"Dr. Hemp is an experienced cardiac surgeon and was referred to me by my cardiologist. He explained all aspects of the aortic valve/root surgery to my wife and I in advance taking as much time as we needed. He is very personable. We are very happy with the results and follow-ups."

"Dr. Hemp and staff were outstanding! Hope he is still around in 15-20 years when I will most likely need my pig valve replaced. I felt like I was the most important person to them from the time of my initial consult/interview with them, until I was released from his care. Never in a hurry to get to the next patient. He is #1 in my book!"
