Dr. Gan Dunnington, heart surgeon, graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 2001.

After medical school, Dr. Dunnington completed his Surgical Internship at the Medical College of Virginia in 2002 and his Post Graduate Year 2 in general surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in 2003. Next, Dr. Dunnington completed a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford University in 2004 followed by a Clinical Cardiac Surgery Fellowship for the El Camino Hospital Cardiac Surgery Division of the Stanford Cardiothoracic Surgery Department in 2005. Dr. Dunnington completed his General Surgery Residency at Stanford in 2008, where he was named Chief Resident of Surgery, and a Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Virginia in 2010.

Dr. Dunnington is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
